Do you deliberately misconstrue things people say so that you can make a joke? If this is the way you amuse yourself then this is the cartoon book for you! Many of the cartoons involve puns, word play, and old familiar sayings - however, quite a few do not. Any idea I found amusing was a candidate for a cartoon! Mr. Gill has put together a wonderful set of illustrations that seem to be designed to make the reader think about the situation he depicts and then go beyond them to think about others like them. This book of illustrations is clearly targeted for the thinking person and especially for people who enjoy words. I found that going through the book once is just not enough--I've reread the entire book 3 times so far and I've only had the book for a week. There are over 200 illustrations and every one of them will probably amuse you over and over again. I understand why Mr. Gill has titled the book "You Amuse Yourself".People from Mobile AL or Normal IL or Rapid City SD or Hope AR or Little Rock AR or St. Cloud MN or visit Lake Superior or the Smokey Mountains or Mount Rushmore might be interested to see what Mr Gill thinks when he hears about these places.

I have been laughing since I picked up this book. Mr. Gill's humor and clever illustrations makes this a delightful read. Everyone loves
a "play on words" and this book delivers some of the funniest I have ever heard!
“You Amuse Yourself” is a word manipulator’s wonderland. Having enjoyed puns and punster’s all my life I thought I had heard, composed, and/or used most plays on words. But I found the author’s use of a cartoon/word mix provided me with new challenges. His cartoons and the words both in the cartoons and out presented novel ways of provoking me to think about each presentation, looking for the “play,” then sensing the forthcoming grimace. I plan to send copies to my punster colleagues for their masochistic amusement
